Oberlin is reading Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 together! Please join us in reading this fast-paced, exciting, terrifying and thought-provoking story. From the NEA Big Read web site: "In one of literature's most haunting denunciations of censorship, Ray Bradbury uses the materials of science fiction to tell the story of Guy Montag, a fireman forced to burn books."
200 Free copies will be distributed at Big Read events (while supplies last). Additional copies will be available to check out at the Oberlin Public Library.
This project is a partnership among Oberlin Public Library, Oberlin City Schools and Oberlin College with support of many local organizations including America Reads, City Club, Kendal at Oberlin, MAD Factory, League of Women Voters, Oberlin Bookstore, Rotary Club and others.
The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest.
